2010 Launch!

Social Cricket Comes to Farnham Royal

This is an opportunity for all ‘cricketers’ of mixed abilities to enjoy themselves, so that the players, opposition and spectators have a good laugh in a sociable atmosphere. If you are only available for one game this year – that is fine. We want current ‘serious’ cricketers to get their names down as well, so we can match the opposition – you may be asked to bat cack-handed if we overestimate their strength though! Please all – get your names down on the poster at the clubhouse now.

Matches will be played in a 20/20 format mostly weekday early evenings against local opposition, who will be invited to have a beer, a sandwich, a laugh and chat, mingled with a bit of competition.

Fixtures will be announced shortly, starting with Stoke Green, Farnham Royal Junior School (parents not pupils), Farnham Common Sports Club, and Mars already signed up.

Phoenix have also been approached, and we will be talking to Datchet and Taplow to see if they would like to join in.

If you are a non-cricketer the only kit you will need is trainers, whites are optional, and the club will provide the bats, pads, boxes! etc where needed. We will do our own umpiring and scoring, unless volunteers are forthcoming, and use old balls (ahem). Players will be asked for a small contribution at each match to pay for teas etc.

This is a great opportunity to get involved and have a giggle, so register your interest now at social.cricket@frcc.info.

Please get your friends, family and work colleagues interested, so they are invited to come and enjoy themselves at the club as well. Remember to mention the great selection of drinks, including real ales, comfortable air-conditioned club, and a chef on hand for a tasty cooked meal if required.

Please enter your contact details on the poster at the clubhouse, or email social.cricket@frcc.info, as the larger pool we have to call upon, the more enjoyment there will be for everyone.
